The Food Stamp Outreach Program is funded in part by USDA & TN Dept. of Human Services.

MANNA targets five populations with our outreach: the working poor, homeless, immigrants, elderly and disabled, and ex-offenders reentering society.

Our Food Stamp Outreach has several components:

         1. Material Distribution - We identify agencies who serve the above mentioned populations and are willing to distribute brochures to their clients. MANNA has materials available in English, Spanish, Kurdish, and Arabic.
         2. Presentations - Any agency that knows of a group setting where MANNA's Community Outreach Specialist may come to speak and answer questions about the food stamp program, and/ or assist with applying and prescreening is welcome to call us. We have access to interpreters who could aid us on site if needed.
         3. Prescreening - Whether by phone or on site, MANNA staff can prescreen people for food stamps and give estimates of how much food stamps a household may be eligible for.
         4. Application Assistance - Again, by phone or on site, MANNA staff assists people with filling out their applications and answering questions about the process. We can also call DHS to confirm that an application has been received.

* While on site work is limited to Davidson County, prescreenings, application assistance and policy questions can be handled by phone. Material distribution can be done by mail.

**To better serve the immigrant community, MANNA also has access to professional interpreters by phone.
